On her last day in China, Xiao gets a final glimpse of the world she is leaving behind. Everywhere the group traveled—in the market places and in the public parks—the adoptive parents were greeted warmly and welcomed by the Chinese people, who seemed genuinely happy for the babies' good fortune to have found a new home. |

First, a short flight to Hong Kong, and then the long trans-Pacific flight back to the States. For these new parents and their adopted daughters, the real journey is just beginning. For trip facilitator Martin Qin, his work is nearly done. Trained as a translator and as a social worker, Martin is perhaps uniquely suited for this job: that of helping unite American families with their newly adopted Chinese babies. |
